Kiln-dried and quarter-sawn for stability, then oiled rather than lacquered so the grain stays open to the touch.

02 · Week 2
Material selection
Slabs, boards and cloth are chosen by hand. Anything with a vein or grain that fights the form is set aside.
03 · Weeks 3–6
Making
Frames are joined, stone is cut and the body is built by a single maker who stays with the piece from first cut to last.
04 · Week 7
Finishing
Four grits of hand sanding, then oil or glaze applied in thin coats and left to cure between each.
05 · Week 8
Inspection and delivery
Checked under raking light, blanket-wrapped, and delivered into the room by our own team.

Oak Console Table in a residential setting

The story

The thinking behind it

Oak Console Table began as a question about restraint: how little can a furniture piece do and still change a room. The answer, in the end, was one clear silhouette and one honest material.

It is made in small runs so the studio can stay close to every piece. Oak was chosen not for novelty but because it ages well, a surface that looks better in its fifth year than its first.

Specify it alone against plaster, or let it sit quietly inside a fuller scheme. It is designed to hold either position without argument.

The rectangular form is deliberately unornamented; the oiled finish carries all of the character.
Scaled for living room and dining settings with generous circulation around it.

Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners on the oiled surface.
Marks and spills
Blot immediately with a clean, barely damp cloth and dry at once. Do not rub the surface while wet.
Light and heat
Keep out of prolonged direct sun and away from heat sources; natural materials will shift in tone over time.
Long term
We can re-oil, re-seal or re-finish any piece at the studio. Contact us rather than replacing it.
